It's Wings That Make Birds Fly by Sandra Weiner was conceived while she was photographing at a New York Day Care Center and where she met the children whose lives and feelings are portrayed in this book. The story emerged from their taped conversations over a period of a year, of what was for them a very important year. [1968]

Isn't it amazing to see how children's minds work: how they become fascinated and focused; how they can be entertained by such simple, joyful things; and how their fears are the ones we all struggle with, even as adults: being lost, being left, wanting to fly, but not quite knowing how.
